A balance sheet provides a snapshot of your business’ finances at that point in time, and gives an indication of the current health of your business. It contains all your assets, liabilities and ownership equity – how much of your financing is borrowed as opposed to funded by money you’re making. Since a balance sheet is a snapshot, it can provide a useful, up-to-date picture of your finances.
